Due to continued growth a Manager role has arisen within our Global Compliance Services (GCS) business team. We are looking for an individual from a Tax background with an interest or experience in Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance. We provide multi territory VAT compliance services to many of the firm’s largest and most important clients under multi year contracts.
The successful candidate is likely to have a VAT background in a professional services firm, or industry. The role will be based in central Birmingham at our UK Tax compliance centre. The successful candidate will manage the multi territory VAT compliance process for their portfolio of clients within the GCS business.
On a day to day basis responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring the workflow against agreed timelines;
- Ensuring high quality service delivery to our clients;
- Technical and quality review of draft VAT returns and related outputs from our Automated VAT Return system (AVR);
- Responsibility for managing delivery against contract budget;
- Managing the VAT compliance relationship with the client;
- Interpreting and resolving client queries on multi territory VAT issues;
- Responsibility for the development and appraisal of junior staff;
- Coaching junior staff on VAT technical issues;
- Developing and maintaining relationship with the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) network globally;
- Keeping up to date with legislation and practical changes which impact VAT compliance; and
- Ensuring our client management information systems are kept up to date.
Job Requirements:
In addition to relevant experience, the candidate will need to possess and demonstrate a broader range of capabilities and skills, including:
- Extensive VAT knowledge;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Good understanding of Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and VAT accounting;
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
