VAT Specialist - Commodities, London / South East

Are you a VAT specialist with a sector focus in commodities trading looking for a "greenfield" in house role?

If so this privately held commodity trading business could be just the right challenge for you! The business focuses on commodity trading - mainly in oil and derivative products. With a global turnover in excess of $1bn, and no previous VAT function, you will have plenty to get your teeth into!
You will report into local London management team with a dotted line into an overseas functional head.

Your role will cover all VAT related issues, ranging from routine compliance and reporting, setting up registrations etc but the real value-add focus will be on providing advice on tax efficient inter-EU trading, recovery of VAT and implementing training and processes to ensure VAT efficiency. This will span not only reporting mechanisms and processes but will also extend to training traders and generally increasing the awareness of the VAT and cash implications of inefficient trading throughout the business. Naturally you will also manage the relationships with HMRC and external advisers.

As consequence the ideal candidate must:
- Be ACA/CTA qualified with significant exposure to advising the commodity trading sector on VAT matters.
- Be a pro-active, self starter who is keen to make a real difference in an unstructured and fast paced environment
- Be confident and able to thrive in a stand alone role
- Have an ability to influence and drive change as well as a "can do" approach
- Have a genuine interest int he commodity trading sector
