Our client Chivas Brothers is the world’s No. 2 in Scotch whisky. An excellent opportunity has arisen within their organisation for a part time Tax Accountant. The role will be based at their Paisley site.
Purpose:
To provide support on the tax compliance and reporting processes for the UK group, to assist the Tax Manager on a variety of ad-hoc project work, and to minimise tax payable.
This role is equivalent to 3 days a week. Working hours are flexible and salary and benefits will be pro-rated accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
•Tax compliance - To work with the Tax Compliance Manager to ensure that the UK group meets its filing and cash tax payment responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner. This will include the iXBRL conversion/preparation of a portfolio of tax returns and e-filing.
•Tax planning - To work with the tax team on the implementation of tax planning & reorganisation projects.
•External communications – Assisting with HMRC queries and correspondence and liaising with external tax advisors and auditors.
•Tax accounting – Work with the Tax Compliance Manager on the preparation of tax provisions for the statutory accounts (UK GAAP) and half-year and full-year provisioning (IFRS) for Group.
•Assisting in the supervision of Senior Accounting Officer compliance.
Working as part of the UK tax team to provide ad hoc tax advice and support for the UK group.
Key Capabilities:
•Ideal candidates will have a professional accounting qualification and/or professional tax qualifications (ATT/CTA)
•Understanding of UK corporate tax compliance and reporting requirements
•Experience in Alphatax (or similar tax software) is advantageous
•Awareness of VAT and personal tax issues would be beneficial
•Good written and oral communication skills and inter personal skills
•Computer literacy
•Strong tax compliance, accounting and system skills
•Flexible attitude, ability to respond to deadlines and prioritise as necessary
