Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, situated 14 miles off the north-west coast of France and 85 miles from the English coast. With a population of around 100,000, Jersey is a self-governing Crown Dependency with its own financial, legal and judicial systems.
The Island’s parliament is known as the States Assembly. Jersey has a ministerial system of government. Jersey is not part of the European Union, although it is in a customs union in order to allow the free flow of goods and people between the Island, the UK and Europe.
