Corporate Tax role providing training in Advisory Based in Hertfordshire Great Benefits Part Time considered

Vacancies in the Corporate Tax Team:

Experienced Corporate Tax Senior
or
Corporate Tax Assistant Manager

We are looking for tax advisers with excellent communication skills, to join our busy corporate tax team.

The role:

Working as part of our corporate client team you will play a significant part in looking after compliance matters for over 200 corporate clients and their corporate taxation needs.

You will work closely with our corporate tax director, the corporate client team, partners and other team members across the practice. Your client portfolio will offer involvement with a wide range of companies for whom you’ll provide support on tax advisory matters for business owners, as well as helping them to meet corporate tax compliance deadlines.

You will be involved in researching a wide variety of corporate tax matters for predominantly entrepreneurial owner managed business (OMB) clients. Liaising with the accounts team, you will provide guidance and support to the team and to the client in preparing tax computations as part of the accounts preparation process.
The role involves detailed reviews of corporate tax computations on larger and more complex clients, as well as making claims for tax relief on more technical matters such as R&D and capital allowances.

Supervision of more junior members of the team who deal with basic filing and payment compliance matters is also part of both roles.

Our client base is made up of, but is not limited to, service companies, IT developers, property investors and developers, manufacturers across several industries and a wide range of professional service firms. You will be in direct contact with clients by email, over the phone/video meetings and face-to-face, so excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Accountancy (ACA or ACCA) qualification.
  • Experience in accountancy practice.
  • Tax qualifications (CTA or ATT) would be desirable, but are not essential.

Skills and abilities

Experience working in practice on a wide range of corporate tax issues is essential. Specific and recent experience, or exposure to some of the following would be useful (in no particular order). The candidate could expect to be involved in some capacity in all these areas. Training is provided to build skills in these areas.

  • Capital allowances
  • Research and development claims
  • Patent Box
  • Group tax planning
  • ATED compliance
  • Re-organisations and mergers
  • Tax clearance procedures
  • EIS
  • EMI Share option schemes – set up and EMI 40 returns
  • Share valuations
  • CGT – especially business asset disposal relief
  • Company purchase of own shares
  • Incorporations
  • Employment related security returns

    Personal skills

The role has a high level of client contact so the ability to explain tax issues clearly and confidently in a non-technical manner is important. Good organisational skills are also required as you will be working with several partners to meet the personal tax compliance needs of their clients.
