Day to day your role will include:

• Facilitating implementation and monitoring of processes required for compliance with the Criminal Finances Act

• Supporting the FD and other members of the Senior Leadership Team with proactive tax advice. If necessary, provide ad hoc analysis and project work for matters such as group restructuring / integration of acquisitions / establishment of new trading companies

• Driving process improvements to improve data accuracy, minimise adjustments and reduce dependence on off-line systems and analysis.  Preparing the business for developments in the HMRC’s “Making Tax Digital” strategy

• Reviewing, finalising and submission of Corporation Tax and VAT returns

• Liaison with the HR Team to manage employment tax issues

• Advising on VAT and customs duty in respect of imports / exports and facilitate process improvements required. Participate in development projects (for example, application for Authorised Economic Operator status)

• Supporting the business with Environmental tax requirements (for example Climate Change Levy, Plastic Packaging Tax)

• Managing relationships with UK and Nordic tax advisers ensuring good control of fees within agreed budgets

• Monitoring corporate taxation accounts (CT / Deferred Tax / VAT) in the balance sheet to ensure that they are up to date and accurate at all times

• Completion of year end taxation reporting tools for Group and preparing all tax notes for statutory accounts

• Treasury work including maintenance and development of treasury policies including foreign currency and cash management. Also forecasting and helping the group to hedge against foreign currency fluctuations

Ideally you will be qualified (ACA, ICAS or CTA) and strong UK corporate tax skills. You will need to be an organised individual who is excited by the prospect of developing treasury skills alongside tax. Will consider applicants from practice or industry. Ideally this role will be full-time either remote worked or St Helens based but with monthly travel to St Helens in Merseyside.
