International VAT Manager - Retail and fashion
Compliance VAT Manager for a well known retail brand
The position will focus on indirect tax compliance and risk management across the global business The role will have an international remit, supporting the Head of Indirect Tax and will be a commercial and technical VAT specialist capable of stepping outside their comfort zone. The role's purpose is to ensure the effective operation of the end-to-end VAT compliance and reporting processes, including clear balance sheet reconciliations.
The role
Leading the compliance processes including timely and accurate reporting and payments for all indirect tax returns
Advise business units on global Indirect Tax issues, ensuring tax risk is managed appropriately for all commercial and corporate operations
Working with the Indirect Tax Senior Manager to support the many new business initiatives and associated change impacts from requirements through to successful implementation to ensure VAT compliance and accurate reporting
Supporting on the management of indirect tax risks, identify cash savings opportunities, and support (and in some cases lead) initiative(s) to mitigate the risks or realise the opportunities Conduct risk and control analysis for indirect tax processes and identify areas where controls can be enhanced or created
Managing communication and queries from HMRC and other tax authorities, including building relationships with key contacts
Represent the business, taking the lead on engagements and negotiations with external advisors, government bodies, tax authorities, and auditors.
Provide ad hoc support to other tax team members and the wider business where required

About you
- Experience of managing both UK and global VAT for businesses
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Previous international VAT experience is beneficial
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
£65,000 - £75,000
