This is a newly created Senior Tax Manager Customs role, reporting into the head of tax you will be responsible for all customs issues for the international organisation

Description

• Responsibility for the Imports and Exports functions of the business
• Performing in strategic and advisory capacity, delegating day to day tasks and queries to the Customs Team manager and Senior Customs advisor, being their escalation point and supporting them to achieve a high performing Customs Department.
• Keeping abreast of ongoing changes to legislation and make amendments to processes / procedures
• To participate in decision making and deployment of strategies and manage any HRMC enquiries and maintain a relationship with HRMC
• Identify Weaknesses in the business process and planning; providing support and training via team members to upskill colleagues in the business as necessary
• Keep abreast of ongoing changes to legislation and future-proof the business and manage any ongoing risks / identify opportunities
• Raise issues / make proposals to the UK Tax Director/Board as appropriate
• Lead customs related planning meetings across the business to develop and implement solutions and mitigate risks; working closely with Direct and Indirect Tax colleagues
• Be able to explain technical customs issues through verbal and written communications clearly and succinctly to tax and non-tax professionals at all levels including the Executive Board
• Support other departments such as Commercial and Supply Chain, including business travel as required for meetings with Customs and 3rd party logistic providers / Group companies.
• Support Colleagues regarding Brexit implications to overseas Group companies
• Tax review of contract - support from a customs angle.

Profile

You should have a proven track record in tax customs issues gained from working in a similar professional or in house environment
