Job Details

We are offering a fresh opportunity for the role of R&D Technical Manager to be based in one of our offices: London, Horsham, Chichester, or Canterbury. This pivotal position involves being integral to the growth and development of our internal dedicated R&D team, whilst being part of the wider corporate tax team.

As a Firm we have delivered high quality R&D claims to our clients, and we have now created a dedicated R&D team. Being part of this small team, will allow an ambitious individual to help mould the service line and have lots of scope for your ideas to be implemented.

We are seeking a R&D candidate who possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage in technical discussions with clients, without requiring an accounting or tax background (we have that covered) to supplement our tax team.

This role is well suited to a candidate who is curious in science and technology, with a strong technical background, and the ability to explain complex R&D rules to clients, whilst working collaboratively with the team and with clients to produce R&D reports.

About the role

  • Conducting technical interviews and drafting R&D reports for clients.
  • Being one of the main contacts for the delivery of our R&D service and working collaboratively with clients to produce their R&D report.

  • Securing new business opportunities through prospect calls and nurturing existing client relationships.
  • Collaborating with a diverse range of clients spanning various sectors, covering both SMEs and large corporations.
  • Supporting the CT team with reviewing R&D reports.
  • Assisting with the delivery of R&D training to the Firm.

This role requires occasional travel to clients and other KR offices so candidates must be willing to travel.

What we're looking for

  • Prior experience in preparing written R&D claims
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • A degree in a STEM field
  • Previous experience in scientific or technological industry or in a dedicated R&D
  • Experience with dealing with HMRC R&D enquiries would be beneficial but not essential

This role requires occasional travel to clients and other KR offices so candidates must be willing to travel.

What we can offer

  • Financial wellbeing – competitive salary, contributory pension scheme, life assurance, Westfield Health Cash Plan, income protection. Options to increase pension, life assurance and healthcare cash plan (for yourself and/or family)
  • Leave – 25.5 days plus bank holidays, holiday buying (up to 5 days)
  • Mental wellbeing – hybrid working (3 days in the office/2 from home) and flexible working policies, employee assistance programme and counselling
  • Physical wellbeing – we also offer voluntary benefits such as BUPA PMI/Westfield Hospital Treatment insurance, critical illness insurance, BMI health assessment, GymFlex, annual flu jab
  • Recognition – monthly nominations for financial awards based on culture and values
  • Development – we offer continuous support and development with clear mapped progression routes across the business, as well as access to internal and external training courses
  • Diversity, inclusion and belonging – we operate several family-friendly policies and take proactive steps to create an inclusive environment
  • ESG – give as you earn, 1 extra day off each year to take up volunteering opportunities. Opportunities to support our commitment to charitable causes
  • Travel – other optional benefits include: cycle to work scheme, travel insurance, interest-free season ticket loan (London only), interest-free car/motorbike loan
