A leading Big 4 firm is undertaking a significant reorganisation of its Tax Audit service line to establish a Centre of Excellence spread across their South East and Midlands regions with a key focus on their Reading and Birmingham offices. Their aim over the next three years is to centralise all of the corporate tax audit work into a single team which will become the market leaders in the field. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of corporate tax technical knowledge, work on interesting and diverse clients and enjoy fantastic flexibility.
There are busier periods in the audit calendar, most notably January – April when most of the team will work full time, but there are a number of the current group have annualised part-time hours allowing them to take extended periods away from the office at other times in the year. For example, some of the team take advantage of the arrangement to spend the majority of school holidays away from the office.
In addition to part-time arrangements, the firm is committed to everyday flexibility: they trust their staff to manage their own diaries and balance their professional and personal priorities. Most of the team will work from home once or twice per week, and they have the option to flex their hours as needed to suit their home life. The firm has invested heavily in virtual working technology to limit the need for you to travel to clients and improve remote working capabilities.
The firm has a strong Audit client base of FTSE 100 and Large inbound clients, and this team will be involved in the entire lifecycle of their audits. Due to the requirement to regularly rotate clients between firms as well as staff between accounts, you would work with a diverse and changing portfolio of clients. Additionally, this role would allow you to review advice provided from all of the Big 4, making you a better corporate tax specialist.
Uniquely to this team, promotions will be based your technical tax knowledge rather than your ability to sell to new clients as the work is already secured. Additionally, the team's structure will provide a path to Director and Partner once the team structure is established.
