Your new role

Reporting into the Head of Finance, this is a hands on position running the tax requirements of the Group. The tax function has previously been outsourced and we are looking for a knowledgeable individual to manage the process of bringing the function in-house and to run it going forward.

Managing the UK Corporation Tax Process:

  • Completing the annual tax workings and computations.
  • Filing tax computations with HMRC and completing any associated iXBRL requirements.
  • Managing the process for payments on account to HMRC throughout the year.
  • Preparing the Corporation Tax journals to be posted to the general ledger.
  • Dealing with any auditor tax queries.

  • Complete the quarterly VAT returns for the 3 UK legal entities in the Group.
  • Co-ordinate the associated VAT payments to be made to HMRC.
  • Work with HMRC to set up a VAT tax group and manage the Group going forward.
  • Deal with ad hoc VAT queries as they fall due from the business.

    Payroll Taxes:
  • Manage the process of reconciling the various payroll taxes deducted from employees' salaries with payments made to the authorities.
  • Set up and complete monthly reconciliations for all payroll related disbursements.

    Commercial advice:
  • Provide tax advice on all Commercial negotiations and dealings.
  • Support the rest of the business as required with tax advice.
  • Be the tax specialist point of contact for the company on all UK tax related issues

    What you'll need to succeed
  • 5 years + experience of running a UK companies tax operations.
  • Professional tax qualification.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Have attention to details and able to work to deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills to form close working relationships with colleagues around the business.
  • Pro-active individual who will take ownership of the newly created tax function.
  • Experience in providing tax support in bidding/transactions.
