Your new company has a diverse customer base, spanning rural residents to large commercial clients. Part of a larger FTSE100 business operating across a range of industries and 15 countries, this is an employer of choice offering stability as well as employee investment, opportunity and development. Despite the last year, this organisation has maintained strong growth and, as such, they would like to expand their Tax Department, making the appointment of an Indirect Tax Accountant. This brilliant opportunity to join a medium-sized in-house team is suited to an Indirect Tax specialist or a recently qualified Accountant with some experience of VAT and a desire to further develop their skills in this remit. This position is full-time, permanent, however those looking for part-time hours may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Flexible and agile working is available.
Your new role
Reporting into the Head of Tax and joining a team of three, you will be responsible for the compliance obligations of the business in relation to Indirect Taxes including Excise and Custom Duties. This will include preparing and reviewing a range of returns in line with various deadlines and ensuring the accurate reporting to HMRC is completed. Further to this you will support with VAT and Duty related queries and planning projects, as well as identifying tax risks. This will involve effective stakeholder management. You will ensure adequate processes and controls are in existence, proposing improvements where required.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful applicant you will either be an Indirect Tax specialist with a proven track record of delivering VAT compliance and/or advice in a consultancy or in-house capacity, or you will be a qualified Accountant with some knowledge of Indirect Tax and a particular interest in this remit. You will have excellent attention to detail and analysis skills, with strong communication, both verbal and written.
