Indirect Tax Manager

Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc is a multi-national engineering group that has its headquarters in Cheltenham, UK. Reporting to the Group Head of Tax, this is an expansion of the in-house tax team and forms part of the strategic move away from the reliance of third party advisors for tax services. The individual will work closely with tax and/or finance colleagues within the Steam Specialties, Electric Thermal Solutions, and Watson Marlow businesses.

With a focus on VAT pricing and compliance, you will take full ownership of VAT for the group and dealing with any external inquiries should they arise. The role will initially provide support in managing global VAT affairs of the group but with an implied expectation that the role will expand to include taking responsibility for supporting the businesses on Customs Duties.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone moving from practice or already in VAT in-house. The role will offer a broad range of experience, exposure to all levels within the company, and the ability to mix technical tax matters to the commercial environment, whilst developing the role within a changing and growing environment.

You will be a high calibre, self-starting tax professional, well organised and able to work with limited supervision. You will be diligent, have exceptional attention to detail, a logical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to manage challenging deadlines.

Technically robust, you can grasp complex issues, apply the relevant legislation and make recommendations in a clear and succinct manner, tailored to your audience. You will be results and objective-driven, comfortable taking ownership for your responsibilities, and have an appetite for learning and continued self-development.
