This is primarily a homeworking role that will also involve one day a month at the Head Office in the North West and regular travelling sometimes with overnight stays required. Candidates can therefore be based nationwide.
This client facing role involves analysing businesses’ projects / activities and expenditure in relation to research and development for tax relief purposes. You must therefore develop a strong understanding of government guidelines / legislation and HMRC guidance in regard to research and development activity. Previous experience of this is not required to be successful in the role, as training will be provided. This knowledge is then applied to clients’ businesses and a report is developed.
You will be expected to make site visits to clients premises where you will interview key staff members involved in the relevant projects and evaluate the qualifying R&D expenditure. This also involves reviewing and interpreting the Financial Accounts and gaining a clear understanding of the activities undertaken by an organisation. You must therefore have excellent interpersonal and analytical skills and report writing experience.
Experience of one or more of following would be beneficial:
• Quantitative or qualitative research experience
• Experience within a field of science or technology
• Experience working in sectors where R&D is prevalent (e.g. software, manufacturing, technology)
• Experience in report writing to deadlines
• Experience of working with financial documentation
Intensive training will be provided.
