Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with an extremely successful and growing Legal Group based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire to recruit for a dynamic and experienced permanent Senior Tax & Trust Manager. The Group works with clients in the UK and throughout the World, offering an unusually broad range of skills and experience across the full spectrum of business and personal needs. The role will involve working closely with partners, associates and members of the growing Trust Administration team. The Trust Administration team itself deals with a wide range of Trust Administration work, including charities and sites within the firm's market-leading Tax, Trusts and Succession Practice Group. The role report directly to the Head of Group and you will drive/develop the Team through continued success and growth. The role will suit who is looking to develop their career within a friendly collegiate team that is widely recognised for its expertise in this area. The client is flexible on location for the right candidate and open to discussing agile/remote working arrangements.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve managing your own caseload, client relationships and engaging with all those that may be involved with any given matter, including trustees, beneficiaries, and other advisers. You will pro-actively manage your clients to ensure tax-planning and succession planning issues are considered, management of relationships between grant-making and applicant charities, drafting deeds and associated policies. You will oversee and contribute towards the preparation of trust accounts, tax returns including inheritance tax returns and dealing with HM Revenue and Customs. You will calculate trustees' liabilities and make use of annual exemptions, deal with payments and distributions, activate investment reviews, monitor performance of investment portfolios and prepare/review trustees investment policy statements. You will prepare for attending trustees' meetings, interpret trust deeds with the input from the wider team, and keep manager/partners regularly updated with progress on assignments and billings. You will have a lot of client contact and be expected to take part in client meetings and liaise independently with clients, beneficiaries, banks, investment managers and other professional advisers such as valuers and accountants.

To be considered for this hands-on and exciting Senior Trust & Tax Manager position you will need experience within a similar role, enthusiastic and dedicated in pursuing a career in trust administration, be willing to share knowledge/experience with colleagues and have excellent organisational skills. You will have strong attention to detail, key problem-solving skills, be a pro-active team player who can motivate others, along with extremely strong communication skills to develop rapport with a wide variety of individuals. You will have a high degree of numerical skills and be competent with MS Office including Excel.
