The Trust Administration team manages over 100 trusts and funds, which give the scope for a wide variety of experience, with property and share portfolios, discretionary, life interest and personal injury trusts and family wealth management.  We also operate a trust company, which acts as a professional trustee and executor. The team’s work also includes accounting matters for the probate and Court of Protection teams within the Private Client Group. The work is predominantly accounting-based, yet does involve significant interaction with the wider Private Client planning team to ensure a complete service to clients.

You will have a reasonable understanding of the firm’s values and culture and will be keen to raise the profile of the team. You will represent our clients to the highest standard and you will be eager to broaden your range of expertise and skills.

Key Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:

Main Duties:

  • Assisting with the production of annual trust accounts, and preparing Trust & Estate Tax Returns and beneficiary income statements
  • Assisting with preparation of estate accounts
  • Preparing individual tax returns
  • Preparing IHT100 returns
  • Arranging payments to beneficiaries and for trustees
  • Data input for trust accounting of bank, brokers and dividend information
  • Updating capital information of trustees’ share portfolios
  • Reconciling to third party records
  • Monitoring of client funds on deposit
  • Contact with other professional advisors as well as clients
  • Receive requests for advice from current and potential clients and deciding on the most appropriate responses to make to these requests

Qualifications & Experience           

  • At least 3 years in a practical accountancy background
  • Income, Gains and Inheritance Tax experience
  • IT literate, with good working knowledge of Word & Excel and possible previous experience using CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax or similar software
  • STEP member and relevant professional tax body desirable but not essential

Motivation & Competencies

  • Relevant experience within a professional services firm would be desirable
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal - the role involves liaison with internal and external people at a senior level
  • A self-starter, able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and motivation, but also work closely with other team members and displaying trust and loyalty
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks in an assertive, efficient and timely manner
  • Good interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all dealings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a positive professional attitude
  • Must be able to multitask and keep calm under pressure
  • The flexibility to work outside normal office hours as may be required from time to time
