Joining as a VAT consultant / Manager based from the firms Exeter offices you will undertake a managerial level role, carving a role as internal VAT specialist, responsible for the provision of VAT advice internally, working with colleagues, management team and partners, working on wide ranging compliance an planning projects, assisting with the preparation of detailed letters and reports. Alongside this will act for wide ranging clients, manage billing processes and deal with VAT queries from other firms of accountants, acting as a support specialist. You will liaise with H M Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients and take part in VAT visits . You will also play a lead involvement in developing junior staff managing and reviewing work of trainees and helping in their career development . There will be potential involvement in marketing and providing training material and delivery of this. You will be an experienced VAT Manager, or VAT Consultant,either CTA qualified, or with substantial relevant work experience gained within the indirect tax field.
You will have significant demonstrable previous work experience within the Indirect tax arena. This could be gained through working in Customs and Excise, within Practice at a 'big 4' firm or another reputable accounting firm, or mixed, in house background, within Industry and practice.
Knowledge of the indirect tax market is essential accompanied by strong technical knowledge.
Knowledge of all areas of VAT in particular trade with overseas, construction, land and property and partial exemption would be advantageous.
Circa £35,000 - £45,000 plus, dependent on experience and background, negotiable, plus benefits
