An opportunity for a talented VAT specialist to join our Tolley Tax team. The focus of the role is to develop and deliver commentary and practical guidance for our two main Tolley research and guidance products, TolleyGuidance, our online practical research offering and Tolley Library, our comprehensive deep research product, which includes individual titles such as De Voil Indirect Tax Service and the Tolley Annuals.  

This is a unique opportunity and is one of the most exciting, dynamic times to join our information business as a VAT specialist, as we are undergoing the biggest change to UK VAT law since the UK joined the EU back in 1973. This writing role is key to providing advisers with relevant up-to-date content to inform the decision-making process post Brexit.

This is a fixed term contract for an initial period of 12 months on a full-time basis (although part-time may be considered).

Responsibilities

  • To develop and maintain market-leading commentary and practical guidance for the Tolley VAT practice area. The role will involve working closely with members of the Tolley writing team, the wider LexisNexis Business and external contributors to ensure that the content is high quality and tailored to the needs of our customers. To deliver this the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Delivering core practical guidance commentary
  • Developing new content and maintaining existing content to a high standard technical and editorially
  • Monitoring information sources to identify and report on relevant news and updates
  • Working closely with the current awareness team to produce a leading current awareness offering, providing VAT news of the highest quality
  • Contributing ideas for the development of technical solutions with our product teams, to ensure that we are delivering guidance and commentary in the most efficient way possible
  • Promoting the Tolley reputation by contributing to marketing activity
  • Meeting with customers as appropriate to receive and respond to feedback and to keep up to date with their needs
  • Networking and collaborating with the wider business to share and access existing content and to identify new business opportunities
  • Engaging with internal sales and go-to-market teams during engagements with customers
  • Collaborating with the Tolley team at large supporting best practice development, the sharing of expertise and identification of potential business/product opportunities

The successful candidate will be CTA-qualified or equivalent and will either be an experienced tax writer or currently in practice and looking to build a career as a tax technical writer
